It only takes a reminder to breathe, a moment to be still …
“It only takes a reminder to breathe,
a moment to be still, and just like that, something in me settles, softens, makes space for imperfection. The harsh voice of judgment drops to a whisper and I remember again that life isn’t a relay race; that we will all cross the finish line; that waking up to life is what we were born for. As many times as I forget, catch myself charging forward without even knowing where I’m going, that many times I can make the choice to stop, to breathe, and be, and walk slowly into the mystery.”
Danna Faulds
I read this poem at the beginning of my talk at dōTERRA’s first African convention “Discover” last month. The topic was “Striving Forward with Purpose” and for me to strive forward with purpose, it means I need to get still and connect with that voice within myself – God, my intuitive wisdom, my higher self, my soul. That still centre where “the harsh voice of judgement drops to a whisper” and where I can wake up to my life as it is – not trying to control, force, change, compare, to be something that I’m not.
It was also at this convention that we did the Gallup Clifton Strength Finder, a powerful tool to help learn more about ourselves and our strengths. We had a fantastic coach, Eddie Villas, taking us through the results and helping us to understand it all better. My strengths were all focused on relationship and community building and really reinforced to me the importance of the special communities in my life – my Feminine Wisdom, dōTERRA, Mindful Moments and a few other very significant tribes and communities where I connect with and feel supported by many wonderful and like-minded women (and men). As many of you may know we have recently moved to the KwaZulu-Natal midlands and I am starting to get settled in a wonderful new community and way of life, but I’ve also realised how important these other communities are to me and I want to continue this journey.
And so I am excited to announce that I will be starting Mindful Moments again. These are weekly 30 minute online sessions which start with a short introduction and chat, followed by a guided mindfulness session. There are recordings of previous ones on my website www.nicolaaylward.com under “Mindful Moments” if you’d like to see what they’re all about, or to listen to a recording if you missed a session. They are a “reminder to breathe, a moment to be still” to allow us to “settle, soften, make space for imperfection”. They are a community and a support, a gentle “touch base” with ourselves in a busy week and an often crazy world! I would love you to join us.
The Mindful Moments will now be on a Wednesday morning from 7.15 – 7.45am. They will still be on Zoom on this link or under these details:
Meeting ID: 385 365 2907

You’re welcome to drop in and join at any time. There is no need to book or commit weekly.

In a separate online session, I will also be doing a “Mindful Drop” every Wednesday 8 – 8.15am. It will be on the same zoom link above. In this weekly call I will be talking about 2 – 3 different dōTERRA essential oils each week and how I use them. You are welcome to join live and ask questions – these sessions are also a gift from me so there is no fee. I will be talking about pure oils, blends and how I use the oils for myself and our family, and my patients – making rollers, sprays, using topically, internally and diffusing.
I hope to see you at one or both of these sessions where we can ground and grow together … please also feel free to forward this invitation on to others who you think may enjoy these sessions. We start on Wednesday 19 July which is just next week! I can’t wait!
